So you have bought your shiny new lockers and now you’d like to fit them against a wall. It’s not rocket science but there are a few things to be aware of when doing so. Firstly It makes sense especially if you are a school or public premises to place your lockers in an area of high foot fall. This will help to reduce future damage and vandalism to the lockers as there are people about. If you are planning to install the lockers into a coridoor then its essential that you leave a large gap between the locker and the other wall 1.5 meters is recommended to allow for peeople opening the locker doors. This could also affect things like Fire audits.
Once you have found the perfect location to site the lockers you need to ensure you have the right fixings and tools for the job. For concrete, brick and block walls then you’ll need raw plugs and screws and for plasterboard walls you’ll need drywall fixings and screws. When fixing to plasterboard we recommend the metal screw in drywall fixings as in our opinion they feel more solid.
The first thing to do is to fix your first locker (or nest of lockers to the wall). You then need to measure where your next locker or nest is going to fit and drill the fixing holes and fit either the Raw plug of dry wall fixing. It’s now time to bolt the next locker to the side using nuts and bolts (nesting bolts). These are normally supplied at no extra cost by you locker supplier. Once the lockers are fixed side to side then you can screw the locker back to the wall for the perfect fit. Repeat this process until the job is finished.

One important tip is to use a wall pipe and wire dectector. these are quite cheap from all good DIY shops and can save you a fortune in remedial works if you hit a water or electrical pipe. Before buying your lockers it always makes sense to measure the room and draw a simple layout to ensure you don’t end up buying more lockers than will fit in the space.
